Dr Ornelas is currently the assistant to the President of the State University of Morelos, Mexico (UAEM). Arturo lived in Geneva, where he met and studied with Paolo Frieire. Eventually he received a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Education, A Master of Economics and Ph.D. Dr. Ornelas is a member of the World Health Organization working on improving global health matters. He is an international speaker on health and indigenous medicine and has spoken at universities around the world including Harvard and the University of Berlin.

Carol Jensen is Coordinator of the new bachelor of science degree in Integrative Therapeutic Practices program and a tenured Associate Professor at Metropolitan State College of Denver (MSCD). She is a Board Certified Holistic Nurse.

For almost forty years I have wandered through exotic and remote landscapes and returned to write and speak about my adventures, the people, and the environments that I have been lucky enough to encounter.

I was trained as a scientist and in the beginning I merely considered my travels to be a series of physical challenges to overcome and goals to attain. That was a long time ago.

In Siberia, the harshest of lands, I met Moolynaut, a shaman of the Koryak people. Through her teachings, and the patient conversations of many men and women, I began to see the world as our ancestors saw it. My website and my new book, "The Raven's Gift" tell the story of my search for physical and spiritual healing among the people of forgotten seas and tundra.

To Whom it may concern:

I am writing this letter on behalf of the La Casa Quigg-Newton Clinic in support of Estara Health and Wellness. We have been extremely fortunate to make a connection with this group this past year.

I met their director, Sofia Chavez-Frederick, and was immediately impressed. She has a positive and calming presence as well as being a tremendously inspirational individual. Our first interaction was having her and her group attend our all staff clinic retreat. At the retreat, our staff experienced a “healing circle”. This 30 minute exercise had all 30 or so of us believers in the healing and therapeutic powers that Estara can achieve.

Shortly after this positive experience, we began to work on how our clinic and her group could collaborate and find a creative way to bring these valuable services to our patients.

We came up with a project where the healing group came to our clinic one afternoon every 2 weeks and did brief education to interested patients followed by a brief healing session. This was tremendously beneficial in many ways that was able to be sustained for approximately 4 months. Many of the patients that they touched suffer from chronic pain and they benefitted and appreciated the interventions.

The 9 clinical providers at our clinic as well as our nursing and support staff are all in support of finding a way to continue this positive relationship.

This letter is a letter of full support and recommendation to have Estara Health and Wellness partner with the La Casa-Quigg Newton Clinic.
